Not sure what your domain name should be? Here's 3 simple tips to help you choose an easily marketable and search engine optimisation (SEO) friendly domain name.
1.Branded domain or keyword-rich domain?
When brainstorming a domain name for your business, you'll either go for a "brandable" domain name or a keyword-rich name.
"Brandable" domains - a domain that contains your business name instead of your industry keywords. brecklandindustrial.co.uk, empresa.co.uk and broadlandwineries.co.uk are examples.
Keyword-rich domains - are domains that contain one or more industry-related keywords. For example norfolksawservices.co.uk or sell-story.co.uk are keyword-rich domain names.
In the past businesses chose keyword-rich domain names thinking they would rank higher in Google, and that used to be true but Google has adjusted its algorithm over the years and no longer gives any ranking privileges to keyword-related domains, making them much less effective so there's really no need choose a keyword-rich domain name unless the keyword is actually in your business name.
2. .com or .co.uk domains?
.co.uk if your target market is located in the UK as a co.uk domain as it will rank better in nationwide searches whereas a .com domain is better if your business is targeting a global audience.
3. Pick a name that you can sell
Your domain name will be on every email, letterhead, signage and packaging of every product you sell. When choosing your domain name it has to be a term that people can get behind. Single-word "brandable" domains are always easier to market like Empresa or Quentor.
