It’s Armed Forces Week this week, a time in which we can all learn more about the work of the Armed Forces and celebrate the contribution the Armed Forces make to our country. Each designated day offers a chance to celebrate a different part of the military. This article is intended to provide a little more information about it and where to go to find out more!
The key dates are as follows:
Monday 22nd June – Armed Forces Flag Day
This is an opportunity for everybody to show their support for the men and women of the Armed Forces in all areas, from those currently serving to Veterans and Cadets.
Wednesday 24th June – Reserves Day
This is often known as ‘Wear Your Uniform Day’ as everybody is encouraged to wear uniforms, medals and caps and share these on social media.
Saturday 27th June – Armed Forces Day
Due to COVID-19 the National Event planned to be hosted in Scarborough has had to be cancelled but there are still many ways to celebrate and show your support for those in the Armed Forces and their families and provide a real morale boost. One simple way of showing your support is to send a photo or video of yourself, friends and colleagues saluting on LinkedIn, Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #SaluteOurForces. There are short videos showing how to salute correctly in the Royal Navy, British Army and the Royal Air Force on

Last year many celebrities, businesses, organisations and members of the pubic all got involved by sharing their salutes. To get involved Tweet @ArmedForcesDay using #SaluteOurForces, comment on Facebook posts or email
