Norfolk Saw Services was established in 1960 offering a saw sharpening service to the local timber industries. The business has since expanded over the years and now, in addition to saw sharpening, sell a large selection of woodworking machinery and power tools to DIY, trade and Industry at competitive prices. With a wealth of knowledge and large stocks of consumables and accessories to compliment the product ranges the new showroom at Whiffler Road Industrial Estate in Norwich is a magnet for professionals and woodworking enthusiasts from all over East Anglia.
At the start of the project, a full UX (user experience) design was undertaken, resulting in the entire site being wire-framed. This UX took into account, the nature of their clients (professional or hobbyists), product filtering and ease of locating products. Following careful planning, the UI (user interface) was added in line with the new branding, and the technical team got underway developing the site within Kentico CMS.
The website synchronises with Epos Now, a real bonus for the client who is only required to amend pricing on the till system as the website automatically picks up the changes, ensuring that stock levels and prices are mirrored across both website and the shop. In addition sales from the website update both the stock levels on the till system and also appear on the till as a web transaction, meaning that all reporting is carried out within just one system.
Full order tracking allows staff at Norfolk Saw Services to view and update orders, as well as sending automatic invoices and reporting on the payment status of orders. In addition, a click and collect function allows their customers to purchase on-line, and collect their products from the shop on Whiffler Road.
